BY Teodor Keko On Sunday evening, TVSH (not the one that points the way) showed us, fearlessly and proudly, the happy Mr. Nano with Revik. The vision made, just as strong with its spite, could do nothing else but send us back, current-like, without the fear of the gas blast. Those Golik explosions amid the brushwood. Nano apparently was not very clear that day. He made things clear first with a recited song. The face did not spare us the interruption of a rain. And with his filth, he showed a high degree of understanding toward those who know better how to walk the roads of being barefoot. But with the end for Albania, and the homeland, Nano appeared as if, in the culture of uncultured Albanians, the over-lord of the over-lordly uncultured; the over-lord gone into the over-lordly uncultured; the over-lord gone into the over-lordly uncultured. Who was he to congratulate us? The master of the madmen? Or the one being congratulated? Do you understand? Who? The father of the madmen? Him? Perhaps the cause of this heavy matter, the matter of the realistic writing of the Press and the others? Aren’t they protected by airiness? He who was to congratulate us: let us hate ourselves, let us have no mercy on anyone, let us age to the point where small things happen in our country. That would be madness, said TVSH with the congratulation of the chief himself and very little remains to him of the fireworks’ kind in the slide of his own self. Perhaps! But we know: the health of a nation is the health of character. For a nation that has walked the honest road, the road of its own self, all this with its rotten drumbeats is simply a mirror of shame. Would Nano have liked to see the people dazed, with a kind of fanaticism thirsty for weapons and hatred? Or to watch a country built with great effort and great pain collapse? We are nobody to remain silent before this moral disgrace. Do you understand these things? Do you understand? From this filthy thing that in Albania has become as common as a house guest, human life is being devalued; the law is being trampled and defiled; the state is being treated like a private yard. And we are supposed to sit and applaud? It cannot be done. It seems Nano has grown nostalgic for the steps of the flute, which turn back time but not responsibility. In this exhausted country, those who carry the burden of ruin on their shoulders cannot stroll around as triumphant figures. Albania needs calm, order, justice, people who know how to bear the weight of their word, and not television shows with the scent of cynicism. Page 4
